Universität Wien, Institut für Europäische Ethnologie (Workshop 19.-20.3.26)

What are urban spaces of possibility? How are local practices and power relations intertwined? And how can these be conceptualised and studied ethnographically? We discussed such questions at the 15th workshop of the Network for Cultural Studies of Urban Research, organised by the Institute for European Ethnology, University of Vienna, to which our Institute of Strollology was happily invited. In addition to our presentation on findings from our project “15 Minutes And Then What?” on the ongoing and controversially discussed changes to the mobility regime in the city of La-Chaux-de-Fonds, we learned about the committed participants’ and co-presenters’ own interesting ongoing projects. We are delighted about these connections and look forward to potential future collaborations!

Was sind städtische Möglichkeitsräume? Welche Verflechtungen von lokaler Praxis und Machtverhältnissen sind prägend? Und wie lassen sich diese konzeptuell fassen und ethnographisch erforschen? Solche Fragen diskutierten wir am 15. Workshop des Netzwerks kulturwissenschaftliche Stadtforschung, organisiert vom Institut für Europäische Ethnologie der Universität Wien, zu dem unser Institute of Strollology erfreulicherweise eingeladen war. Nebst unserem Vortrag zu Erkenntnissen aus unserem Projekt “15 minutes and then what?” über die laufenden und kontrovers diskutierten Veränderungen des Mobilitätsregimes in der Stadt La-Chaux-de-Fonds, haben wir von den engagierten Teilnehmer:innen und Mitvortragenden über ihre interessanten Projekte erfahren. Wir freuen uns über die Kontakte und auf mögliche künftige Kooperationen!
